Lady Gaga
Every day that I have to work means packing my son into the car and then heading to daycare. Inevitably, Lady Gaga gets cranked up and my three year old and I are "raising the roof" and bopping our heads. He requests Pokerface every time. Now some might argue that it is inappropriate for me to listen to Lady Gaga with my 3 year old. I don't disagree with you, the words could definitely be better. The message is poor and the things she says are not good. YET, this has become a routine and for us, its a good one because it leads to laughter, a way to ease into the morning, and on mornings when we were fighting in the house, Lady Gaga soothes things over. See, she is not so bad after all.
It is a moment in my day that I have come to cherish now for the last 6 months since he forced me to buy the CD. I love all the traditions we are developing as a duo and I wouldn't trade them for anything. And somewhere, within these times of rockin' out and just being ourselves, we come in touch with the spirit of God. I know, I know...Lady Gaga and God??? But its true. I feel connected to my son during these moments of laughter and mischief, and that connection is what I like to call the Holy Spirit. We have created a routine, a bond, and a "thing" we do together that allows us to feel each others love. If that's not God, then I don't know what is.
Focus for Today:
Working on developing traditions in your family or friendships that allow you to feel the love you have for one another. Come on, you know its there! So try grabbing a Frosty from Wendy's together once a week, or playing a video game together, or buying a crazy pair of socks once a month, scouting through stores until you find the perfect pair. WHATEVER your tradition may be, may it bring you closer to the ones you love.
Shalom!
Pastor Annette
