Its Not All About You. Its About US.
Its hard to sleep when you spent almost an entire day with someone who is having a staring contest with death...and waiting to see who blinks first.
Friends, life is a gift. A precious gift from a loving God who adores every hair on your body, every quirk in your personality, and every part of your whole being. And for every minute I spend with people who know that the gift of life could be taken out of their hands at any moment, I am inspired to make my life mean something. My God made me, designed me, molded me, and called me to do something meaningful with my life.
And God calls you to do the same. To not take for granted what you have. To honor and appreciate what you do have. And to take care of one another. We are called to live beyond ourselves, to get out of our boring routines, to ignore our insecurities, to shut off the computer games, to turn off the cell phone, to turn off the television, and to get out the door and see where the world needs us.
But in the business of life, we often forget that. We so easily slip into the coma of self doubt, tradition, fear, pity, sameness, and control. We neglect to fan into flame those passions that lie deep inside of us. Friends, those passions were put there for a purpose! Every single one of us has been and IS called to do something GREAT! And that great thing is different for me than it is for you. My gifts are different than yours. And that is a beautiful thing. Why? Because that means together, we can accomplish something huge!
Someone once told me, "You know your calling when your greatest passion meets the world's greatest need." So imagine a world in which people are lining up their passions with the needs of the world. Imagine the change! Imagine the impact! Imagine the relief, the love, and the peace it would bring to so many suffering people.
Today I began and ended my day with someone who got outside of herself...her own problems...and did something great for this community. I told her earlier today I would pray for her. But I also need to pray for myself because just when I think life is hard, or that I should give up, I am reminded of just how selfish I can be sometimes with my own time, money, and gifts from God. So tonight, I remind myself and anyone else that God calls us to get out our door and make a difference using all that she (God) gave us! GO...and BE the change you want to see in the world. Now. You can do it. And may you know that our loving, powerful God is with you all the way!
What are you waiting for? Go!!
Peace,
Pastor Annette (I should probably follow that up by saying that if there is ever anything you want to get involved with at Grace Adventure from making meals for the Danielle House, serving at a soup kitchen, Habitat for Humanity, mission trips, helping in a Community Garden, adopting families, etc. etc. JUST LET ME KNOW!!!
